Match Captain’s Report – April 25, 2014

A good weekends golf was had by many members over the Bank Holiday.

The Easter cups were competed for on Saturday with Ross Toshack posting the best score of 40 points and winning the division one cup and Robert Beale scoring 39 points to win the division two cup (getting his handicap reduced by 2 in the process ). With a competition standard scratch of 72, conditions continued to be tough in windy Spring conditions.

Bank Holiday Monday saw a mixed medal competition played on a calm warm day with the scores reflecting the improved conditions, standard scratch 70 with the top six all breaking 70 nett.

Outright victory went to Chris Burns with an excellent nett 67. I will note it would have been nice to see a greater number of our Lady members testing themselves in this medal format on such a nice day.

Less pressure on everybody this weekend with a 4BBB, but it is the qualifier for the Earl of Plymouth Cup. It has been pointed out to me a few times that the Earl of Plymouth qualifier should be a medal competition, not a Stableford as listed in the diary. This is correct and I can confirm that it is indeed a medal competition.

Members are still doing an excellent job in keeping play moving well with morning rounds consistently below 4 hours and afternoon rounds between 4 hours and 4 hours 15 mins. Thank you to everyone for your support in this matter, let’s keep it up.

Happy golfing
